KNOWLEDGEABLE ICT COMMUNITY

Objective

To build a knowledgeable ICT community by training P6 students at the Kacyiru Primary School located in Kigali City and the Kacyiru community at large.

Background

In 2012, Imbuto Foundation and Kacyiru Primary School built a community center on the premises of the school with the support of the China Africa People to People Friendship Action .

The objective is for the Center to become a library and for-profit internet café that provides ICT services to the public and use earned revenues for community projects. Following a donation of 25 computers to the school, Imbuto Foundation offered basic ICT training to P6 students.

In 2013, Tigo Rwanda concluded a partnership with Imbuto Foundation to start a training of trainers program for community members. In turn these will be expected to continue to train school students and the community as well as provide suitable ICT services at the center. The project should be transferred to the Kacyiru community in 2014.
